Living Wills in old age

The My Living Will website initially focused on the specific medical conditions most likely to lead to loss of capacity to participate in decisions about health care towards the end of life. These conditions include dementia and stroke.

We have recently added new material about how old age affects health. People experience frailty as the functions of the organs of the body decline. Frailty in older adults is a late-life vulnerability that contributes to increased risk of poor outcomes from illnesses. Frailty may make it difficult to participate in decisions about health care, which is why it makes sense to plan in advance for the kind of care you want towards the end of life.
